Chances are, you’ve seen or heard lots of negative information regarding college students and alcohol. The media, in particular, loves to make college students out to be out-of-control stereotypes that are more committed to the bottle than they are to the books.
The Real Project takes a different approach by seeking input from actual, real-life, eating, breathing students, such as yourself, to come to its conclusions. We bypass the hype and go straight to the facts. We do this for a reason: To correct misperceptions about FSU student’s drinking habits.
So, how do we do it? We start by getting raw information from student surveys. We then take that information, process it and show it to you.
It really is as simple as that.
The creative concept for the project was originally created by FSU students. A spring 2008 Creative Strategies class brainstormed a ton of ideas before selecting the one you may have seen in and around campus. This concept was then handed over to the new media and advertising firm Taproot Creative to design, execute and implement.
In order to make the facts a little more interesting, and to get people to pay attention, the campaign also features both actual and made-up information to accompany the stats. The facts ranges from informative truths to strange and unsettling fibs. You can view more of these facts by clicking here.
If you haven’t already, you’re also likely to run across our advertisements in computer labs, residence halls, on billboards, at the FSU movie theater, at the www.fsunews.com website, at Crenshaw Lanes and in the Star Metro buses on campus. It’s worth keeping your eye out for them since each one has a different fact. You can download some of the campaign materials by clicking on the links below.
